Fall and Thanksgiving Math

Matching game - 1st and 2nd grades

More Addition and Subtraction

Easy math game: buy two ice trays from the dollar spot at target, write 2-digit numbers on white labels for each hole, and kids toss a cube in each tray and add or subtract numbers on recording sheet.

Kindergarten Works - learning to subtract in chunks instead of one by one. Use with Subtraction Equation Cards from Kindergarten Works on Teacher's Notebook.

Similar to Mountain Math - I made a colorful chart version for our Math bulletin board. The students love it! source

Rekenreks

Rekenreks are great tools that provide a visual representation of the math problems. The students learn to immediately see sets of 5s and 10s within the numbers they are working with. They can then branch out to see other patterns as well, i.e. 2s, 3s, etc. I made mine out of 3" x 6" craft boards (pkgs of 6), bracelet string, and pony beads.
